Best Funnel Builder for Shopify Stores: GetResponse vs Kit (ConvertKit) vs Systeme.io
You have a Shopify store and you are choosing a funnel builder. The question that decides it is narrower than any feature grid: when an order lands, does your marketing tool find out on its own, or do you wire that pipe yourself? We checked the vendor documentation and the Shopify App Store for GetResponse, Kit (ConvertKit) and Systeme.io on 13 September 2026. Two of the three ship a first-party Shopify app that syncs customers and orders directly. The third documents only a Zapier route. That one difference sets your setup time, your ongoing cost and how many moving parts can break between a paid order and a follow-up email. Decide which architecture you are buying first; the rest of the shortlist follows.

Pricing at a glance
Prices checked 13 September 2026. Prices read from each vendor's public pricing page and, for GetResponse, its Shopify App Store listing, on 13 September 2026. Kit defaults to yearly billing and its prices rise by subscriber band — the figures below are the 1,000-subscriber list size. GetResponse tiers by contact count, so 'from $19/month' is the entry band, not your price at scale. Systeme.io needs a separate Zapier account for Shopify data. Vendors change prices and limits without notice, so check the vendor's own page before you commit.
| Tool | Free tier | Entry price | Next step up | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Systeme.iocheapest entry | Free plan: up to 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 automation rule and 1 custom domain | $17/month (Startup: 5,000 contacts, 10 funnels), plus a Zapier account for the Shopify connection | $47/month (Webinar: 10,000 contacts, 50 funnels), then $97/month (Unlimited) | vendor page |
| GetResponse | A free account sign-up is offered on the vendor's Shopify page; the app listing itself starts 'From $19/month' with a free trial | $19/month (Starter band per the official Shopify app listing; the vendor tiers by contact count) | Higher contact-based tiers were not verified on 13 September 2026 | vendor page |
| Kit (ConvertKit) | Free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers | Creator: $33/month at a 1,000-subscriber list ($390 billed yearly) | Pro: $66/month at a 1,000-subscriber list ($790 billed yearly) | vendor page |
How much contact room each tool's cheapest paid tier actually gives you
Contacts / subscribers covered on each tool's entry paid plan (contact band for GetResponse, subscriber band for Kit). Positions read off plan limits on each vendor's pricing or app page, checked 13 September 2026. Systeme.io's entry plan covers the most contacts for the least money. Kit's $33 covers a 1,000-subscriber list (and its free tier, 10,000, sits above the whole paid-entry scale). GetResponse prices by contact band, but the exact Starter cap is not stated on the pages we verified, so it appears on the scale only as an entry-tier marker. Read the axis as room, not as value.
The price ladder, step by step
These are the entry points in the order a one-person Shopify business would hit them. Kit's per-month figures move with subscriber count; GetResponse's number is the app-listing floor, not a fixed price. Checked 13 September 2026.

The question that decides it: native app or connector
You are a Shopify store owner picking a funnel builder, and there is one job no generic review measures: the tool has to know, reliably, when something happened in your store — a new customer, a paid order, an abandoned checkout, a refund. Two architectures do that. Either the marketing vendor ships a first-party Shopify app you install and link, or the connection lives in a third-party automation service and depends on you building and maintaining the pipeline.
GetResponse and Kit are in the first camp. GetResponse's app appears on the Shopify App Store under the developer name 'GetResponse S.A.', launched in September 2022, with pricing shown from $19/month and a free trial, and its product page promises one-click integration that automatically imports customer data, product feeds and historical orders. Kit ships a Shopify app distributed through its own Apps directory and installed from inside Kit ('Link with Kit'); its documentation describes real-time sync of customer and order data, purchase-history import and buyer tags written back into Kit.
Systeme.io sits in the second camp. On 13 September 2026 we checked the vendor's own surfaces three ways: the Shopify App Store has no systeme.io app; a search of help.systeme.io for 'shopify' returns no articles; and the company's integrations page does not exist, while its features page mentions Shopify only in the list of platforms Systeme.io claims to replace. What Systeme.io does document is Zapier — its pages point there, and Zapier lists working Shopify-to-systeme.io templates.
One honesty note, because this corner of the internet is full of recycled claims: a few third-party blog posts describe a 'native' Shopify OAuth connector hiding in Systeme.io's settings. Nothing in the vendor's documentation, help centre or app-store presence supports that. When a blog and the vendor's own docs disagree about an integration, plan your store around the docs. Before you pay for anything, open the help centre and search for the integration.
What the two native syncs actually pull into your funnels
'Integrates with Shopify' can mean anything from 'a contact appears in another database' to 'your tool sees every order in real time and can act on cart contents.' Here is what each vendor documents for its own app — this is where the practical difference lives:
What GetResponse documents: customer data, product feeds and past orders imported automatically; abandoned-cart, win-back and product-recommendation automations built on that data; drag-and-drop promo codes in emails; email, SMS and push channels for follow-ups.
What Kit documents: real-time sync of Shopify customers and buyers plus order data; purchase history imported so automations can branch on what someone bought; product tags applied from your catalogue; revenue visible inside Kit; abandoned-checkout emails that render the actual cart; Shopify product blocks you can drop into any broadcast.
Both target the same behaviour: stop exporting CSVs by hand, and let store events start the sequences. The difference is emphasis. GetResponse is marketing-suite-first — the Shopify sync feeds a system that also does landing pages, webinar funnels and SMS. Kit is email-first — the sync enriches a creator-style list, and the commerce features (dynamic-cart recovery, product blocks) are built around broadcasts and automations rather than a full funnel suite. If you send SMS, that points to GetResponse; if you live in your inbox, it points to Kit.
- If you need SMS or push receipts alongside email, that is documented on GetResponse's Shopify page and on neither of the other two's.
- If you need revenue and purchase history visible inside the email tool itself, that is documented for Kit.
- If you need both, you are choosing between two different centers of gravity, not between two versions of the same product.
What you give up when the connection runs through Zapier
The Zapier route works — we are not claiming otherwise. Zapier's own directory lists Shopify triggers (new order, paid order, new customer, abandoned cart) creating or updating contacts with tags in Systeme.io, and a free Zapier tier exists. But a connector is a different trade than an app, and you should make it with your eyes open. First, the synced object is thinner. A contact plus tags is not a live order feed: your automations can react to 'this person bought product X' only as well as the fields your Zaps copy across, and every new trigger you want is another Zap to build, test and pay for. Several of the popular Shopify-to-systeme.io templates in Zapier's directory sit behind Premium plans. Second, you now run a second subscription and a second point of failure — a Zap that silently errors on Black Friday is a marketing bug with no obvious smoke. Third, none of this is a Systeme.io flaw specifically. It is the cost of not having a first-party app, a cost GetResponse and Kit have chosen to pay instead of you. Build one Zap, run a test order through it, and watch where it breaks before you rely on it for a launch.
Where the extra costs show up
None of these is expensive on the headline number, and none is free of surprises. The bill moves on the levers below, so work out which one applies to you before you compare prices:
Contacts and subscribers are the meter. Systeme.io counts contacts ($17/month covers 5,000; $47 covers 10,000). GetResponse's app pricing is contact-based — 'from $19/month' is the entry band, and higher contact volumes cost more on tiers we did not verify. Kit prices by subscriber band: $33/month Creator and $66/month Pro are the 1,000-subscriber numbers, on yearly billing — the page defaults to the yearly view, and the monthly-billed rate is higher. The next step is to find your current contact count and check it against the band you are about to buy.
- The connector tax: Systeme.io's $17 is the cheapest sticker in this comparison and the only one that may need a Zapier subscription underneath it. Compare total stack cost, not plan cost.
- The trial question: GetResponse's Shopify listing states a free trial; Kit's free plan (up to 10,000 subscribers) is a permanent tier rather than a trial; Systeme.io's free plan is permanent but Shopify data only reaches it through Zapier.
- Payment processing sits with your store: Shopify (or whatever checkout you use) keeps doing that job. The funnel tool is being paid for marketing, not for taking money.
- Migration cost: purchase-history tags and behavior data are the fields that never survive an export cleanly. The deeper the native sync you adopt, the more re-work a future switch means — another reason to pick the right architecture first and the price second.
Which one actually fits your store — three honest branches
The store is your business, and you want order data, cart recovery and promo-code emails running on day one without building any pipes
→ GetResponse
official Shopify app with documented auto-import of customers/products/orders, abandoned-cart and win-back automations; from $19/month. Test the import.
You are a creator or content brand, and Shopify is only the checkout your newsletter points at
→ Kit (ConvertKit)
real-time buyer and purchase-history sync, dynamic-cart recovery emails, no stated app fee, and a free plan that carries up to 10,000 subscribers — start there.
Budget is the binding constraint, and you will maintain a Zapier connection to keep the cheapest full funnel suite
→ Systeme.io
$17/month entry (5,000 contacts) with email included, but the vendor's only documented Shopify route is Zapier — add the Zapier bill before you decide
How to choose
- Start with the connection, not the editor. An official Shopify app (GetResponse, Kit) means store events reach your marketing tool directly. A Zapier-only route (Systeme.io) adds an account, a workflow and a failure point between the order and the follow-up. Write that architecture down on one line.
- Match the tool to your centre of gravity: if the store is the business, choose the commerce-native sync (GetResponse); if the audience is the business and Shopify is the checkout, choose the email-first sync (Kit). If you sell a catalogue, start with GetResponse; if you sell to a list, start with Kit.
- Check what actually syncs. Customer and historical-order import, real-time buyer sync, and 'a contact gets created in another tool' are three different depths. The next step is to list the fields you segment on and check they appear in the vendor's documentation.
- Price the meter, not the sticker. GetResponse tiers by contacts (app listed from $19/month), Kit rises by subscriber band ($33/month Creator at a 1,000-subscriber list), Systeme.io rises by contact count ($17/month at 5,000). Before you crown Systeme.io the cheap option, add the Zapier subscription to the total.
- Decide which recovery emails you need on day one. Abandoned-cart and abandoned-checkout flows are documented inside the GetResponse and Kit Shopify integrations. On Systeme.io, the abandoned-cart event only becomes useful once it is piped through Zapier into an automation rule. List the recovery emails you need, then check each vendor documents them.
- Keep the exit in mind. Whatever syncs your store data should also let you export contacts and purchase tags cleanly — re-tagging a list after a migration is unpaid work. If a tool will not export cleanly, do not start there.
FAQ
Does Systeme.io have a native Shopify app?
Not one we could verify on the vendor's side. On 13 September 2026, a Shopify App Store search for systeme.io returned no app by the vendor, a search of help.systeme.io for 'shopify' returned no articles, and the systeme.io integrations page does not exist (404). The documented path is Zapier: Shopify triggers create or update contacts and tags in Systeme.io. A handful of third-party blog posts describe a native OAuth connector that appears nowhere in the vendor's own documentation, so do not plan a store around that claim.
Which of these tools has an official Shopify app?
Two. GetResponse's app is listed on the Shopify App Store under developer 'GetResponse S.A.' (launched September 2022, pricing shown from $19/month with a free trial), and its vendor page describes one-click sync of customers, products and historical orders. Kit's app is distributed through Kit's own Apps directory and installed from inside Kit via 'Link with Kit'; Kit's help documentation describes real-time customer and order sync. Kit's app does not carry an extra fee on the pages we checked. Install the one that matches your business and verify the sync fields yourself.
Do I still need Shopify's checkout if I use a funnel builder?
Yes, for products you sell as a store. None of the three replaces Shopify's role in this comparison — they sit beside it and consume its data. GetResponse and Kit import customers, orders and products to trigger follow-ups, and Systeme.io can receive the same events through Zapier. The overlap is only on the marketing side: landing pages, email sequences and automations you might otherwise pay for as separate tools. If you sell products as a store, keep Shopify doing the checkout and let the funnel tool do the chasing.
What does the Zapier route actually cost on top of Systeme.io?
Two things. One is a Zapier account — Systeme.io itself documents no extra fee for the Shopify connection, and its free plan can be the receiving end. The other is the Zapier plan that fits your volume: several of the popular Shopify-to-Systeme.io templates are marked Premium in Zapier's own directory. GetResponse, by contrast, prices the Shopify connection inside its app subscription (from $19/month per the App Store listing), and Kit documents no add-on fee. Do the arithmetic for your order volume before you assume the $17 plan is the cheapest total.
Which is cheapest for a small Shopify store that sends weekly emails?
Under 10,000 subscribers, Kit's free plan covers the email side and the Shopify sync with no stated extra fee, so it is the cheapest verified path to real-time purchase data. If funnels, not email, are your bottleneck, Systeme.io's $17/month Startup plan (5,000 contacts) is the lowest sticker price — but a working Shopify pipeline needs Zapier on top. GetResponse's from-$19/month entry is the middle number and the most e-commerce features included at it. Count your subscribers first, then pick.
Bottom line
For most Shopify stores, GetResponse is the most direct answer. It is the only one of the three whose first-party app is listed on the Shopify App Store itself (from $19/month, free trial per the listing), and its documented sync pulls customers, product feeds and historical orders into abandoned-cart, win-back and recommendation automations. If your business is an audience first and a store second, Kit's Shopify app is just as native, and its free plan up to 10,000 subscribers is the cheapest verified starting point — price the subscriber bands, not the $33 headline. Systeme.io stays cheapest on sticker price, but its only vendor-documented Shopify path is Zapier, and no native app could be verified on 13 September 2026. Install GetResponse's app and run a test order through it; start on Kit's free plan if the list comes first.
